BOAMBEE HEAD OUTFALL

General Description


The sewerage system was constructed between 1971 and 1973 and the treatment plant and outfall were commissioned in 1977. The plant was augmented in 1982 and 1987 to cater for population growth (CEE Northern Australia 1999a).

Sewerage Catchment:

  • Boambee Head outfall is the discharge point for the Sawtell STP   

Sewage Treatment:  

  • IEAAS treatment process with disinfection by chlorination (MHL769 1997).

Outfall:

  • The ocean outfall is located at the northern end of Sawtell Beach at Boambee Head and is situated on the rocky shoreline in the intertidal zone.

  • There is a single pipe outlet of 500mm diameter.
